Tandra Sudman, Executive Chair
With 15+ years of military service, I am a fairly new resident of Cass County, Nebraska. With 8 years of Active Duty Service and just over 7 years of being a Reservist, my family and I have found our forever home here in Cass County. I received my BA in Human Services Management in 2013 and an MA in Emergency and Disaster Management in 2020. Currently, I am a Public Safety Officer with Cass County Emergency Management, I manage 20+ Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Emergency Management Operations Volunteers. I serve as the South East Regional CERT Program Coordinator, with a role in training, education, and support for 14 counties. I also serve on the state level board for the Citizen Corps, which is an organization designed to educate and train community members in preparedness and response against public health issues, threats of terrorism, disasters, and crime.
Skip Luther, Vice Chair
As a lifelong resident of Nebraska, I retired from Ruan Transportation as a Logistics Field Planner. I also have prior training and experience as a Volunteer Firefighter and EMT. From 2015-2019 I served as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Salvation Disaster Action Team and am currently a volunteer for the Operations Section of the Cass County Emergency Management. As a 27 year resident of Cass County, I have seen the area expand and grow into the community, it is today, being able to give back to the members of Cass County, especially in a time of need, helps the continuance of growth in a positive way.
Brittney Hensley, Treasurer
Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, I went to Bellevue University and obtained my Master’s Degree in Emergency Management in 2017. While a student at Bellevue University, I volunteered for both the Red Cross Disaster Action Team and the Tri-County Community Emergency Management Team through the Sarpy County Emergency Management Agency. I have worked for the Sarpy/Cass Health Department for 3 years as the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. With my role at the health department, I volunteered to join the Cass County Long Term Recovery Group to help provide the community with the resources needed in disaster recovery.
Gary Harpster, Secretary
From 1971-1976 I served as a Naval Seabee in the United States Construction Battalion. I have been a resident of Cass County since 1987 and retired from Duncan Aviation in 2018 after 33 years. My background is in Electronics Technology, Private, and Commercial Pilot Ratings. As a previous Chairman of the Aircraft Electronics Association, representing nearly 1,300 members in 40 different countries, I worked with the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington along with other government entities in building and bettering the safety aspects of the aviation industry. I also have training in Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counseling, Fire Fighting, Search and Rescue, and Diving Recovery. I am currently serving as the President of Middle Island Lake Association, which is a small lake community located within Cass County.
